About Emily

Emily A. Vivian concentrates her practice in estate planning, estate and trust administration, residential and commercial real estate, business entity formation, and business transactions.

Mrs. Vivian spent the first several years of her legal career in private practice, focusing mostly on estate planning and administration, real estate law (both residential and commercial), and business law. After several years, Mrs. Vivian accepted a position at the Illinois Attorney General’s Office, where she served as Bureau Chief of Land Acquisition – Springfield. In that role, she represented the State of Illinois in eminent domain actions and other land acquisition matters. In addition, she drafted and negotiated contracts for goods and services for the Illinois Attorney General’s Office. Finding that she missed interactions with clients and the challenges that come with the everyday practice of law, Mrs. Vivian returned to private practice, again focusing on transactional areas.

Mrs. Vivian attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Accountancy with High Honors. She obtained her Juris Doctorate with High Honors at Chicago-Kent College of Law in 2006.

Mrs. Vivian is a member of the Real Estate Law Section Council of the Illinois State Bar Association, currently serving as the Vice-Chair. In addition, Mrs. Vivian is a director of Equity Legal Services, Inc., a not-for-profit corporation that provides legal services to underserved individuals and communities.

Although Emily was born and raised in Dixon, she now lives in Glen Carbon, Illinois, but commutes regularly to meet with clients in northern Illinois. In her free time, Mrs. Vivan is busy shuffling her three sons around to various practices and sporting events. She also enjoys traveling and reading.
