Megan G. Heeg concentrates her practice in civil and commercial litigation, including bankruptcy and creditor’s rights, commercial and
secured transaction law, and family law, including adoption.
Mrs. Heeg represents businesses, banks, and individuals in a variety of matters, in both state court and the U.S. Bankruptcy Court. She also represents clients in resolving financial issues without the assistance of the courts when appropriate to address the problems of financially distressed entities.
Mrs. Heeg is admitted to practice in the State of Illinois and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Since 2002, Mrs. Heeg has served on the private panel of Chapter 7 bankruptcy trustees for the Office of the United States Trustee, Region 11, administering Chapter 7 bankruptcy cases in Northwest Illinois. She is a member of the Lee, Ogle, and Winnebago County Bar Associations, the Illinois State Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Illinois Creditors Bar Association, the National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees, and the American Bankruptcy Institute.
Mrs. Heeg joined the firm in 1997. Prior to that time, Mrs. Heeg had been a partner in Suits & Heeg, P.C., and before then she practiced with Holmstrom & Kennedy, P.C., in Rockford, Illinois. In 1990, Mrs. Heeg graduated magna cum laude from Northern Illinois University College of Law, where she was a Lead Articles Editors for the Northern Illinois University Law Review. Mrs. Heeg earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Rockford College in 1979.
Mrs. Heeg has written and lectured for various professional associations on topics within her areas of practice. Mrs. Heeg serves as the Secretary/Treasurer of the Lee County Bar Association and is a Lector with St. Mary’s Church. She has served on the Prairie State Legal Services Campaign for Legal Services and was a member of the Dixon Main Street Advisory Board. From 1996 to 2008 she was a member of the Board of Directors with Forreston Mutual Insurance Company, and from 1997 to 2000 she was a Campaign Volunteer for the Dixon Area United Way.
